Welcome to the know | Future blog

This blog is dedicated to the intersection of technology and advertising/marketing/design:

  • Looking in to the agency, we keep track of developments in hardware, software and services in information technology to make our most important asset, our human capital, more productive.
  • Looking out, the means of delivery of marketing messages is fracturing along technology lines, we track the shifts in consumer hardware, software and services that affect how agency clients interact with their customers.

Who is responsible for this?

know | Future is dedicated to providing CIO for hire services to the Advertising, Marketing, Design and Creative industries. The focus is to provide high level consulting on the deployment of information technology both as it relates to internal IT services such as infrastructure, vertical applications, IT policies, etc. as well as providing support for technology and new media initiatives on behalf of the agencies clients. The modus operandi is to do a fixed cost initial assesment of the state of Information Technology inside the agency. More info on the company is available here…

Jorge Abellas - Principal

Jorge’s career in Information Technology positions in advertising dates back to his first post graduation position as a Systems Analyst at Marti, Flores, Prieto, a J. Walter Thompson affiliate and the second largest ad agency in Puerto Rico. After a two year stint at Data General in the late 80’s as MIS manager for the Latin America region, Jorge heard the siren song of advertising again and joined Hill Holliday, at the time the largest advertising agency in New England, as MIS Manager. During his ten year tenure, he rose to MIS Director and in the process deployed a wide range of innovative technologies including workflow systems and pre-Internet boom client Extranets. In 1999, he joined Arnold Communications as Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer. As CIO, Jorge managed the company’s information technology as it has expanded to become Arnold Worldwide and grown from a 1.1 billion dollar national agency to a 2 billion dollar plus international creative powerhouse. There his business card read: “I am the head geek at Arnold, and proud of it.” Jorge holds a BA from Brown University in Information Technology.
